STREET
Directional denim/urban trends
published
24 July 2008 - 61
pages 10710-10770
This extensive report is a study on street trends in the DENIM & URBAN markets. We’ve collected information on evolving shapes, new styles, lengths, fabrics, details and colours through each area.
DENIM &
JEANS - There's a general loosening in jean shapes that moves away from skinny and hi-waist styles. Flares, wide-leg, boyfriend fit, easy straight and carrot-shapes with a dropped rise, are the new rising
stars
SMART CASUAL - Chinos are current favourites, worn on the hip and tapering into the ankle. Skirts are also in relaxed mode. Smart shorts are cut high almost reaching the waist and Jodhpurs have a new refined style.
JERSEY & KNITS - Jersey dresses begin with the simplest of oversized t-shirt shapes, which can be exquisitely printed or boldly coloured. Tops are splashed with sequins and look great with some kind of 'open work'.
CASUAL WOVENS - There are so many great all-in-one designs! New shapes for shorts and short skirts incorporate some volume. Shorts are bloomer-style or full at the top. Skirts can be tiered, gathered or pleated.
DRESSES & PATTERN - Gucci's A/W 0809 show was rife with folk textiles and pretty floral embroideries. This folky look works for blouses, long and short dresses, playsuits, camisoles and scarves.
ACCESSORY - Practical day-bags are large and roomy. For footwear it's got to be gladiator, wedge, moccasin styles or the new cuffed sandals. Short multi-strand necklaces are the hottest jewellery news while trilbies are the No1 choice for headwear!

STREET
Trends denim/sport/urban
published
07 February 2008 - 33
pages 9974-10006
This latest street issue is dedicated to Denim, Urban and Sportswear sectors. The location is
Barcelona's Bread & Butter Tradeshow, where thousands of stylish visitors and
exhibitors in A/W 0809 collections gather to do business. We focus on the best of these and analyse the key shapes, fabrics, details, prints and accessories that will impact on future trends - don't miss!
DENIM - looking ahead, the key denim shapes will be: fit & flare -
super skinny - boy-fit and anti-fit jeans. Hi-waists are an extreme look, go instead for raised or a natural
waistline. 2-way stretch fabric is important for skinny styles and lower-leg creasing is a key treatment.
SPORT - bright colour statements make an impact in jeans, accessories and jersey areas. XXL sweatshirt shapes double as dresses and these oversized proportions are teamed with skinny jeans/leggings. Soft joggers from zouave-drop-crotch to skinny track bottoms are the latest styles to watch.
URBAN - leather biker and bomber jackets are current favourites and will continue in popularity through to next A/W '0809 and beyond. Snug-fitting tailored jackets have lots of appeal and a leaner, tailored look in general will overtake the current fuller silhouettes.
